Setup & instructions

Select your model to see the correct specification, then follow the setup steps below. Everything here applies to all four sizes.

P52 — Setup & Instructions

The complete kit contents are identical for every model. The only differences are the board dimensions and the number of LED positions.

Before you begin: charge nothing, pair nothing in advance. Just plug the board in with the Type-C cable and have your phone nearby.

Quick start

Six steps from unboxing to your first bead placed.

  1. Download the PIXDOU app

Free on iOS and Android. There is no subscription and no account required to start creating.

  2. Power the board

Connect the included Type-C cable to a 5V/2A adapter. The board has no battery and must stay plugged in while in use.

  3. Turn on phone Bluetooth

Enable Bluetooth in your phone settings and allow the app the nearby-device permission when it asks.

  1. Pair the board in the app

Open PIXDOU, tap the Bluetooth icon at the top right, and connect to your board. The board display shows a code when it is powered on.

  2. Configure the Bean Warehouse

Open Bean Warehouse, choose your 72-colour set and confirm. This tells the app which beads to match against.

  3. Pick a pattern and start placing

Choose a design, select a colour, and place beads on the illuminated positions. Iron the finished piece to make it permanent.

Bluetooth icon, top right of the home screen. Searches for nearby boards, shows connection state, and reports firmware version.

Browse free patterns by category. Download a pattern to your device before colour matching is available.

Creation mode

Four import routes — album, camera, existing charts with colour codes, and plain pixel images — plus a blank canvas editor.

Precautions

Four lines that protect the board and the person using it.

  • Use a standard USB Type-C cable and a power adapter rated at DC 5V / 2A. Lower-output chargers can cause flickering or a board that will not power on.
  • Do not bend the light panel. The LED chips sit directly behind the pegboard and bending can crack the matrix.
  • After placing the beads you must iron them to fuse them together. Adult supervision is required — the board itself is a design aid, not a toy.
  • Do not immerse the board in water or expose it to high temperatures. Keep it away from the iron while fusing.
  • Unplug the board when it will not be used for an extended period.
Power adapter: a 5V/2A adapter is not the same as a high-wattage fast charger. If the board behaves erratically, the adapter is the first thing to change.

Troubleshooting

The five issues that account for almost every support request, and what to try first.

The board will not turn on or shows no display

Check that the Type-C cable is firmly seated at both ends, that the adapter outputs 5V/2A, and that the wall socket is live. Try a different cable and adapter to isolate the fault.

The app cannot find the board

Confirm phone Bluetooth is on, that the app has been granted Bluetooth and nearby-device permissions, that the board is powered, and that the phone is close to the board — Bluetooth range is short and walls interfere.

A pattern will not send, or displays incorrectly

Reconnect the board in the app, close and reopen the app, then power the board off and on again. Check that you are running the latest app version.

A firmware update failed

Keep the board powered on and stay within Bluetooth range for the whole update. Do not disconnect power or leave the app while it runs. Retry once the board is stable.

The colours in the app do not match my beads exactly

Open Bean Warehouse and make sure your bead set is configured correctly, then re-run colour matching on the pattern. Minor variation between dye lots is normal in fuse beads and does not affect the result.
